1st Book Blog Post - VA Review

7/29/2015

Although I know time has passed since the Vampire Academy series was published and the movie was made. I feel like my personal review of this story has to happen.

First I want to say that I read the series after Twilight which was a few years ago and absolutely loved it!

To me it was the complete opposite of Twilight and I thank Richelle Mead for showing the super bad ass side of Rose who was the protagonist and of course my favorite character. Don’t get me wrong, both stories are great and I enjoyed each separately.

Still, Vampire Academy to me brought the action, drama, love story and individuality that not many other vampire books have accomplished. Instead of a helpless young female lead, we get Rose who is not easily scared and doesn’t really take anyone’s crap. At the same time she is rough around the edges and needs guidance. This is where our hero Dimitri comes in. He is described as godly and I would say after watching the movie and seeing him on screen (let’s face it, this is as close as anyone will ever get to him), he definitely is! I liked how he was portrayed. My problem with it was that on screen he didn’t seem to have a lot of depth which we all know that he does in the books.  So wishing for more movies!

From book one to book six, I was engaged in the story and when things seemed to go very wrong (don’t worry, I won’t spoil it if you haven’t read it yet), like VERY WRONG. Then we get more! My favorite characters were developed so well that by the time I was done with the series, I was sad.

BUT there is more after Vampire Academy. I am almost done with the Bloodlines series which is a spinoff of VA and yes we do get a cameo from Rose and Dimitri. Bloodlines does have other main characters (that you will also love) and I will be doing a series review once I am done with it.

Was this really a review?

Well, not really it was more like an overview and what I thought about the books/movie and now you all know.

So there!

What were your thoughts about these books/movie?

PS. I will be doing more of these as I finish other books.

I did watch the movie but have not read any of the books. I loved it and didn't like how the reviews are. i am upset that they are not making another movie.
